Hawkins Motor Group | Meet the Team

One of our newest recruits has talked about finding her way in the automotive industry as a female and her aim to inspire the next generation.

Beth Doble, who started her role with us as a Kia Genius at our St Stephen dealership in June, was keen to share her experiences as a woman who has entered an industry that has historically been male-dominated.

She told us: “Before you enter this industry, it could be seen as an intimidating and scary environment but I can honestly say it has been amazing since I joined.

Ever since I started, everyone has been great and I am really enjoying how it is going.”

The 18-year-old was at a familiar crossroads for people of her age as she debated whether to attend university or to try and get a job but upon seeing the job advert with us, she jumped at the chance.

“Throughout my childhood, I was always around motor racing and cars, there are some great videos of me as a toddler wandering around Roche Grasstrack so it’s always something I have been passionate about,” she continued.

“I was torn about university but when this came up, it was the perfect opportunity for me to get into something I love and I feel really strongly about encouraging other women to dive into it, that’s what I did and I am so glad I did.”

Beth’s role as a Kia Genius will see her become an expert for the brand at its new state of the art dealership at Indian Queens, when the team make the move in November.

Her diligence and ambition have seen her complete her Kia training almost 18 months ahead of time and she revealed her desire to improve is behind the rapid pace at which she has finished the training.

She added: “I am so impatient, I want to keep growing and learning as quickly as I can, I’ve always felt like I have had to try harder and that’s given me a great work ethic.

The whole team is so excited about the new showroom at Indian Queens, we can’t wait to get going there, it is going to be brilliant.”

As for the long-term future, Beth is keen to make her mark in the motor racing world, noting that her dream job would to be a team principal in Formula One so we hold hopes that Hawkins will secure an invite to her first Grand Prix!

Pop into Kia St Stephen to say hello to Beth and let her guide you through our latest range of Kia models.
